Day 1 of No Sugar Diet

I am attempting to do a diet that requires me to cut down on or completely remove artificial sugar. So far it has been a challenge because every minute I kept thinking about food. I even got a headache from craving and general hunger.

This is a huge challenge for me because I absolutely LOVE sugar. I have a sweet tooth and will always find a way to eat something sweet, whenever possible. This week is more of a test run and a detoxing stage for me and starting next week, I will monitor what I eat at all times. I also have to make sure I do some kind of a physical activity for 30 mins. EVERYDAY! I know I can do it, but I do also know that I will easily get lazy and discouraged. Hopefully with some self-determination, self-motivation, and some push from loved ones I can complete this challenge and actually succeed. Wish me luck!

What Is Thing or Feeling Called Love?

The Origin of Love

There was Aristophanes’ Androgyny, Plato’s anecdote on the origins of love and mankind. The story recounts the primordial androgyny, mythical creatures with four arms, four legs and two heads. They epitomized completeness and were able to do almost anything. However, their pride in their abilities angered the gods and caused Zeus to cut them. Separated in two, they were destined to drift alone, empty and incomplete, longing for their former halves. For Plato, the androgyny is the symbol of wholeness, and the pursuit of it, is what love is.

Smartening Up

"All I ask of you is one thing, particularly of young people: please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism -- for the record, it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere.

Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen!"~ Conan O'Brien

My Choice

I don't like starting the day feeling bothered about something. I still have a choice to get over things that bother me, but it still bothers me that the issue bothers me. Say that five times fast? lol

But again, I have control over my feelings. I get annoyed easily but I can also easily get over it with some rationalizing and maybe discussing the issue with the person to clear the air.

I'll get over it.

Reflection On A Trip To Cuba

I just came back from a wonderful trip in Cuba. Lots of experiences, laughter and pictures to look back on. It's a beautiful country to visit and experience even just once.

What I brought back from the trip (aside for the souvenirs) is the realization how damned lucky my friends and I are to live in a country that gives us the freedom to be happy citizens. We have the rights and freedom of speech and we are taken cared of by the government in many ways.

We deserve it and I wish everyone else in the world can have that luxury too...

Perspective

I should stop being afraid of what's in my head.

Stand up for once!

The Ghost of Past

What do you do when someone from your past comes back in your life?

I've moved on and in a better place now.
I tried being a "friend", but I got shut out.
There's nothing else to fall back on.

Love Conquers All

Head held up high with dignity. I will fight for what's right.

I'm Yours

A friend of mine used this song to tell her best friend how she really felt about him...<3
It's definitely suitable.

I'm Yours - Jason Mraz

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
Now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my bestest
And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
We're just one big family
And It's our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

Scooch on over closer dear
And i will nibble your ear

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I'm be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours
Please don't, please don't, please don't
There's no need to complicate
Cause our time is short
This oh this this is our fate, I'm yours!

Reflection of You

A boy and his father were walking in the mountains. Suddenly, the boy fell, hurt himself, and screamed “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

To his surprise, he heard the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain, “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!” Curious, he yelled: “Who are you?” He received the answer: “Who are you?”

Angered at the response, he screamed: “Coward!” He receives the answer: “Coward!”

He looked to his father and asked:
“What’s going on?” The father smiled and said: “My son, pay attention.”

And then he screamed to the mountain:
“I admire you!” The voice answered:
“I admire you!” Again the man screamed: “You are a champion!”

The voice answered: “You are a champion!”

The boy was surprised, but did not understand.

Then the father explained:
“People call this “ECHO”,but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do.

Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.

This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given to it.”

LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE......IT’S A REFLECTION OF YOU!

Tips On Developing Crushes On Friends

Here a few tips for anyone that develops a crush on one of your friends:
  1. Just tell your friend you like them early on. This will lessen the complications girls tend to create in their heads.
  2. Don't post anything on blogs of your thoughts because this will haunt you on your wedding day or even until death.
  3. Don't tell your crush you have a blog.
  4. Develop crushes OUTSIDE of your circle of friends. In this case, you can avoid getting mocked by your own crush himself because you actually liked him. lol
  5. DON'T complicate things with physical activities with your crush, especially when he doesn't reciprocate those feelings you'd hoped for. Unless you are brave enough to delve into a 'friends with benefits' arrangements. This never ends well so make sure YOU KNOW what you're getting yourself into.

I'm moving on now and looking for other prospects OUTSIDE of my circle of friends.

If you have any other thoughts or stories I would love to hear them.

Goals Rather Than Resolutions

First of all I wish you a Happy New Year!!!

A friend of mine asked a group of my friends, including myself, of what our "goals" are rather than calling it "resolutions". It's more positive and seems more attainable with the change of a word.

So as I pondered some more of what goals I have for myself, and here some of them:
  • Be more open and honest (learned that tonight in the biggest way possible...heh)
  • Be more responsible with money and save it
  • Go on a trip or two
  • Lose weight (at least the weight I gained thanks to Teacher's College)
  • Find a full-time teaching job
Day one of 2009 has been interesting and we shall see what the remaining 364 days of the year will have in stock for me...

Enter A Relationship

"Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something: they're trying to find someone who's going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your relationship as a place that you go to give, and not a place that you go to take." --Anthony Robbins

Socratic Teaching

This is a way to divert myself from being productive by writing an entry. I'm putting together an assignment for my history student and I came upon a write-up in regards to why should anyone study history. And the author led to discussing the one of the famous philosopher, Socrates. I'll let you read the paragraph that made me ponder myself:

For Socrates, perhaps the highest virtue can be summed up in the phrase, "Know thyself." In other words, of all the things in the phenomenal world, there is not one so important as yourself. To know yourself means to be aware of what it is that makes you who you are. And in this respect, the one thing which reveals this knowledge is history. But people do not live alone, they live in society. And it is in society that the individual comes into contact with other individuals, all of whom are on the same quest, in varying degrees. So, for Socrates, knowledge of self does not hinge upon reflection or introspection, but conversation, hence the Socratic dialogue.

In that thought, life is a on-going journey that we all take on alone or along with friends and family. We search meaning in what we do and with the people we have or had relationships with. Everyone will always ask the rhetorical question, what is my purpose in this life?

I'm always searching my purpose, my meaning in life and who I truly am...

Today @ 25

I finally hit the quarter of a century mark of my life!

I feel no different. Well, ok maybe I slightly feel more mature.

But I still feel like I'm a kid...at heart.

Much like this picture below...
