Day 1 of No Sugar Diet

I am attempting to do a diet that requires me to cut down on or completely remove artificial sugar. So far it has been a challenge because every minute I kept thinking about food. I even got a headache from craving and general hunger.

This is a huge challenge for me because I absolutely LOVE sugar. I have a sweet tooth and will always find a way to eat something sweet, whenever possible. This week is more of a test run and a detoxing stage for me and starting next week, I will monitor what I eat at all times. I also have to make sure I do some kind of a physical activity for 30 mins. EVERYDAY! I know I can do it, but I do also know that I will easily get lazy and discouraged. Hopefully with some self-determination, self-motivation, and some push from loved ones I can complete this challenge and actually succeed. Wish me luck!

Running because I CAN!

I made my first official jog outdoors tonight. What was so surprising about it was that I enjoyed it. However, initially it was still painful just because my lungs and my entire body was not used to running for that long. But it definitely felt exhilarating running around the track and just jog off my troubles for that hour. It also helped to have a good company too though. :)

I'm hoping I can do this jogging outdoors once a week. I'll have to make sure I bring my iPod if I go alone. Running around the track without music would be a little challenging without music.

I'm going to attempt this jogging challenge. My goal in the future is to do a marathon. I hope I can do that. :D

Goals Rather Than Resolutions

First of all I wish you a Happy New Year!!!

A friend of mine asked a group of my friends, including myself, of what our "goals" are rather than calling it "resolutions". It's more positive and seems more attainable with the change of a word.

So as I pondered some more of what goals I have for myself, and here some of them:
  • Be more open and honest (learned that tonight in the biggest way possible...heh)
  • Be more responsible with money and save it
  • Go on a trip or two
  • Lose weight (at least the weight I gained thanks to Teacher's College)
  • Find a full-time teaching job
Day one of 2009 has been interesting and we shall see what the remaining 364 days of the year will have in stock for me...

A Moment Of Weirdness

I am turning 25 in a few months and it feels like I am dealing with a quarter-century-crisis!
Can you imagine when I turn 30? 40?! 50?!?
How did I let this get out of hand?!

As I was packing today to head back home from London, Ontario, I noticed something really disturbing with my wardrobe collection. My clothes consisted mostly of the colour black. In a way, as I have said in the previous post, I am stuck in a rut and it is clearly showing with my wardrobe. This is really worrying me because I feel like I am not myself anymore and it is showing with the way I am dressing as well. I thoroughly enjoy watching any type of makeover shows, such as TLC's What Not To Wear. Before the big reveal of change, the people that get their makeovers done talk about or will be revealed in some form of how they got to where they are at. And some of them, you can clearly see along the way that they had lost their sense of self. Their confidence had faded and so they stopped caring of how they looked. I don't want that to happen to me...but it seems to be creeping up behind me.

I have lost passion for the things I used to obsess over.

Even my behaviour has been very disappointing lately, especially last night. This is not how I want to handle with whatever I am dealing with. I need to create a healthier outlet than what I have been doing lately.

HOWEVER...

I do think this is a great opportunity for me to start fresh and find myself once again. This could also help me refresh my love and passion for art. Which means, visiting galleries (I have a couple in mind already), reading and creating something artistic again instead of being glued to the computer all day. I should also read more books like I used to! I should spend time with old friends that I have not seen in a while. Lastly, become more physically active like I used to. There are so much things out there, and it felt like I have shut the door from everything that was familiar to me.

I know I will be fine and it's just a detour from what I have had planned. I always bounce back from any problems and learn from it. I will be shiny and sparkly once again. You just wait! Haha...

Hello Change!

I hate to say it but whenever I try to lose weight, I use a person(s) to inspire me to attain that weight loss goal. The only time it worked was back in high school, where I was head over heels for a teacher and this guy who's a friend of a friend. It felt good when I lost that weight, but my main problem was keeping it off. But I guess it's just the matter of creating a stronger will-power. I have NONE whatsoever when it comes to food. As I always say, "food always wins." But I really should not allow that to happen. I am what I eat and it doesn't really look good right now. Haha!

I will still use a certain person(s) to inspire my weight loss, but mainly it should be about what I need to do for myself - health wise that is. I have been in a rut within the last year or so and my goal is to get out of it.

Here's to healthy living!

P.S. I guess I should start looking at vegetables in that sense. Mmmm...veggies. Rawr! Haha...
